Daily Recipe: Ham Club Sandwich Sliders

Easter Sunday has come and gone, but that in no way means the food has. Like many families, you're probably in need of a second fridge for all the leftovers. Personally, we had three different chicken plates at dinner, but we know the lot of you maybe had the traditional ham. And like the reusing of the Easter eggs, that ham can be put to good use too.

The iPad to be popular for those in healthcare.

Whether or not Apple's newest, much-anticipated device, the iPad, will live up to the immense hype behind it is yet to be seen. What is certain, though, is that it is already coveted by a wide number of people in all different professional and personal realms. This spans to the likes of those in the education and healthcare fields. While staying up to date on technology is beneficial, those who waited hours in line for the device should be prepared to wait in yet again when Apple decides to release the second version of the iPad soon, which has always been the case with the company.

Daily Recipe: More eggs? Scramble them with Canadian Bacon

We understand: Deviled eggs aren't everyone's cup of tea. Maybe it's the "devil" connotation on Easter Sunday that gets you. Maybe you just plain don't like the snack. That doesn't mean you still can't put dyed eggs to good use. You have to eat a delicious and hearty breakfast after the hunt, no? Why not take those eggs, scramble them, add some Canadian bacon, and set it all atop a few pieces of multigrain toast? Bam! Easy.

The thrill of the hunt is sometimes more exciting than the actual end result. In this case, the act of searching for Easter eggs this Sunday is much more fun than the thought of ending up with a basket full of warm hard-boiled eggs. Fear not. Once that hunt ends, grab them from the bed of plastic grass and whip up a batch of deviled eggs. Nothing goes to waste that way, and you end up with a delicious snack.

"Happy"ness is in the eye of the beholder

"Happy"ness is in the eye of the beholder

In what can only be summed up with, "Wow, that's slightly disturbing," an experiment to see what would happen if a McDonald's Happy Meal was left out for a year seems to have gone terribly...right? Sure, the meat shriveled and the bun went completely stale, but the meal seemed to still hold the properties prime for a photo shoot. Eating it now would not be in anyone's best interest, but that should go without saying.

Daily Recipe: Liquid Iron

Daily Recipe: Liquid Iron

Growing up, we were never one for a heaping plate of spinach. The name alone does not conjure up the tastiest of side dishes, and the look of those wet and wilted leaves were none-too-appetizing. But, if you wanted to be strong like Popeye, spinach was a must. Now that we're a little wiser, we see the benefits of the veggie a bit clearer. However, we can now get it via liquid form. Liquid Iron - the name says it all, no?

"To the curb with you, Mr. McDonald."

"To the curb with you, Mr. McDonald."

The iconic, world-famous, and slightly-creepy Ronald McDonald might be seeing his end soon. It seems a group is seeking to do away with the clown citing he promotes an unhealthy lifestyle to kids. While a strong case can be made for this argument, where does it end? Does the cute redhead of Wendy's do the same? And what about the golden arches in general? And don't clowns scare more kids than anything? We've been to the circus and can attest to that on a personal level, anyway.

Daily Recipe: Spicy Potato Tacos for Taco Tuesday

Daily Recipe: Spicy Potato Tacos for Taco Tuesday

At least around these parts, Taco Tuesday has become somewhat of a tradition among a close group of friends. Every Tuesday, a few of us gather for witty banter, a few libations, perhaps the latest episode of Lost, and, most importantly tacos. It's a nice social dish, especially when guests are allowed to assemble their own. Call a friend or 5 tonight, put a few Corona's on ice, chops some onions, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, and whatever else you'd like to stuff in a shell, and enjoy!

Daily Recipe: Pad Thai

Daily Recipe: Pad Thai

There's not much better than take out food. Delivery is good too, but at least when you go pick up something, you feel like you at least earned it a little. There's a Thai place near us that has the best take out food, and we've deemed this Monday night an appropriate night to go grab some. However, since you're most-likely not near the same place, we suggest you make some of your own Pad Thai and join us in deliciousness.

Medicinal Marijuana numbers quadrupling

Medicinal Marijuana numbers quadrupling

While a new dispensary seems to pop up every five minutes since the legalization of medicinal marijuana, the number of Coloradoans registering for "treatment" is on the rise, as well. Not surprising, but it does beg the question, "What exactly does it take to get your hands on the substance?"

Daily Recipe: Bourbon-Glazed Chicken Drumettes with Blue Cheese Dipping Sauce

It's Friday, it's been a long week, and, to be honest, we're bushed. Tonight, at a loss of any sort of idea for a recipe, we asked the lovely ladies in the accounting department what they would ideally like for dinner. "Hot wings." Easy enough. But to class it up a bit, we're calling the wings, "drumettes." That should make it easier to justify going through 15 moist towelettes.

A member of the hard-working WSi team is headed out tomorrow for a much needed vacation. And while we all will remain in the office green with envy as she soaks up the rays in Playa Del Carmen, we thought we could at least send her off with a recipe indicative to the land on which she is about to step foot. Enjoy the Poc-Chuc and bring us back something nice! Safe travels!

The real take on the fake and bake.

The real take on the fake and bake.

With the recent healthcare overhaul being signed, a new era of medical coverage is going to be ushered in. If you haven't had the chance to thumb through the entire staggeringly long document and read each and every detail, chances are you aren't aware of everything the new legislature entails. Recently, and it's an issue that has the tan-obsessed fuming over, a point regarding the new taxation of tanning salons has been brought to light...and there isn't an SPF strong enough to protect the owners from being affected by the new law.

Whole Foods, or at least the location on Colorado Blvd., is having a blowout sale on their fresh salmon. It was upwards of $13/lbs, but right now you can grab some of the delicious fish for a cool $8.99/lbs. If that's not a deal, at Whole Foods or anywhere else, we'd sure like to know what you consider a "deal." While you're at the market, pick up some nori, fresh mint leaves, sushi rice, and asparagus for tonight's hand rolls.

Daily Recipe: Tostones and Shrimp Party Boats

While we tried to think of something clever to sell tonight's recipe to you, it really just comes down to the fact that the name of the dish includes the words, "Party Boats." If you need a better excuse to make this tasty appetizer, well, then, do it because City Market is having a sale on shrimp. Otherwise, PARTY BOATS!

Counting Calories with the Health Care Reform

Today marked a historic day in healthcare overhaul, as Obama signed a massive bill into legislation. While a great number of changes are expected to come along with this, many of which a lot of people oppose, the bill will now require some 200,000 restaurants to include calorie counts on menus. This practice has been adopted in some places but has remained hush in others. That said, sometimes we'd prefer not to know how many calories are in some of these menu items.

Daily Recipe: Cold night, Hot lasagna

Daily Recipe: Cold night, Hot lasagna

The high tonight in the Mile High City is supposed to be a balmy 20 degrees. It has been snowing all day, the roads are treacherous, the visibility is low, and doing anything other than having the ultimate movie night tonight sounds downright impossible. Cook up a meaty lasagna, throw on your Redbox rental (we suggest the classic 80s flick, "Valley Girl"), and stay warm indoors while the sky opens outside.

Be absolutely certain of your March Madness picks.

Be absolutely certain of your March Madness picks.

...Because some decisions aren't as easy to change as a college basketball bracket. Doctors are reporting an increase in vasectomies during March Madness. Maybe it's because after the operation, you have to stay put for a bit, and what's better to watch than a little college hoops? If you have to be couch/bed-ridden, might as well have some entertainment, right?

We're done with Irish recipes until this time next year, we promise. Corned beef shall not grace the pages of the WSi blog for a good long while. It's been some time since we've posted a breakfast so we're getting back on that this evening. Dinner's in your hands, but we've got tomorrow's meal all planned out. If you don't have time to make an omelet during the week, Saturday is only a day away.
