Daily Recipe: Bourbon-Glazed Chicken Drumettes with Blue Cheese Dipping Sauce

Daily Recipe: Bourbon-Glazed Chicken Drumettes with Blue Cheese Dipping Sauce

It's Friday, it's been a long week, and, to be honest, we're bushed. Tonight, at a loss of any sort of idea for a recipe, we asked the lovely ladies in the accounting department what they would ideally like for dinner. "Hot wings." Easy enough. But to class it up a bit, we're calling the wings, "drumettes." That should make it easier to justify going through 15 moist towelettes.

Daily Recipe: Poc-Chuc: Tender Pork topped with Onions

A member of the hard-working WSi team is headed out tomorrow for a much needed vacation. And while we all will remain in the office green with envy as she soaks up the rays in Playa Del Carmen, we thought we could at least send her off with a recipe indicative to the land on which she is about to step foot. Enjoy the Poc-Chuc and bring us back something nice! Safe travels!

Daily Recipe: Tostones and Shrimp Party Boats

Daily Recipe: Tostones and Shrimp Party Boats

While we tried to think of something clever to sell tonight's recipe to you, it really just comes down to the fact that the name of the dish includes the words, "Party Boats." If you need a better excuse to make this tasty appetizer, well, then, do it because City Market is having a sale on shrimp. Otherwise, PARTY BOATS!

Counting Calories with the Health Care Reform

Today marked a historic day in healthcare overhaul, as Obama signed a massive bill into legislation. While a great number of changes are expected to come along with this, many of which a lot of people oppose, the bill will now require some 200,000 restaurants to include calorie counts on menus. This practice has been adopted in some places but has remained hush in others. That said, sometimes we'd prefer not to know how many calories are in some of these menu items.

Daily Recipe: Cold night, Hot lasagna

Daily Recipe: Cold night, Hot lasagna

The high tonight in the Mile High City is supposed to be a balmy 20 degrees. It has been snowing all day, the roads are treacherous, the visibility is low, and doing anything other than having the ultimate movie night tonight sounds downright impossible. Cook up a meaty lasagna, throw on your Redbox rental (we suggest the classic 80s flick, "Valley Girl"), and stay warm indoors while the sky opens outside.

Daily Recipe: Egg White Omelets with Spinach and Cheese

Daily Recipe: Egg White Omelets with Spinach and Cheese

We're done with Irish recipes until this time next year, we promise. Corned beef shall not grace the pages of the WSi blog for a good long while. It's been some time since we've posted a breakfast so we're getting back on that this evening. Dinner's in your hands, but we've got tomorrow's meal all planned out. If you don't have time to make an omelet during the week, Saturday is only a day away.

Daily Recipe: St. Patrick's Beef and Guinness Pie

Daily Recipe: St. Patrick's Beef and Guinness Pie

Is anyone planning on playing a little hooky from work tomorrow and partake in the all-day festivities of St. Patrick's Day? We know of some Irish pubs opening their doors as early as 8AM. That's dedication. While we'll definitely be in the office (someone has to take care of these staffing needs, afterall), if you plan on making tomorrow a marathon of green beverages, kick it all off with a traditional Irish dinner tonight.

Daily Recipe: Grilled Hot Dogs with Mango Chutney and Red Onion Relish

Daily Recipe: Grilled Hot Dogs with Mango Chutney and Red Onion Relish

There's a hot dog stand across town that promises to stay true to the Chicago way of the dog. This means, they serve up frankfurters with no utensils, and if you ask for ketchup, you may be asked to leave. According to Chicago hot dog tradition, the red stuff ruins the pureness that is encased meat. We wonder if that means asking for Mango Chutney is out, too. Only one way to find out. Road trip anyone?

Daily Recipe: Handy-Pasto - Antipasto Pizza

Daily Recipe: Handy-Pasto - Antipasto Pizza

A few nights back, we went out for pizza. However, by the time the actual pie came, we had filled up on the appetizer: a heaping antipasto plate. Regardless of how amazing the leftover slices were the next day, wouldn't combining the two dishes be the ideal remedy for this problem? Definitely.

Daily Recipe: Scrambled Egg Pasta

Daily Recipe: Scrambled Egg Pasta

We'll admit that at first, the name of this recipe was a complete turn off. Scrambled egg pasta? Really? Yikes. But after analyzing the ingredients and seeing bacon on the list, our minds quickly changed. If you're feeling up to trying something new and with a taste that has the potential to be out of this world, try this one. Now, is ketchup or marinara sauce the dip of choice?

Daily Recipe: Chicken Apple Sausage Frittata

Daily Recipe: Chicken Apple Sausage Frittata

It's Friday, and that means another work week has come to an end. Already, 2010 is flying by at the same speed as 2009. Time to start laying out the Halloween costume if it keeps up at this rate. But if everything seems rushed and like life's going by too fast, take a breath this weekend, spend some quality time with loved ones, and treat them to an outstanding breakfast akin to this frittata.

Daily Recipe: Corned-Beef-and-Cabbage Pizza

Daily Recipe: Corned-Beef-and-Cabbage Pizza

With Saint Patrick's day right around the corner (March 17), we thought it best to brush up on your Irish cooking skills. While Corned Beef and Cabbage are traditional fare, the pizza twist makes it look all the more appetizing. We're all a little Irish come the 17th, right? Might as well partake in the festivities.

Daily Recipe: Rick Bayless Chili Rellenos

Daily Recipe: Rick Bayless Chili Rellenos

Celebrity chefs make it look so easy, don't they? The comedian, Brian Regan, has a bit about cooking shows and how he could, too, be a top chef if everything was laid out nicely before he started cooking a meal. While we may not be making any Food Network appearances anytime soon (unless it's in the background of Diners, Drive-ins and Dives), Rick Bayless wants you to think you're capable of making his signature chili rellenos at home.

Daily Recipe: Pizza Arizona

Daily Recipe: Pizza Arizona

It's March 1st already. With the way this year is flying by, we'll be making Christmas lists before we know what's going on. But before that, let's end this Winter with a bang and welcome the oncoming Spring, enjoying the present. To rev up for the warmer months, we thought it a good plan to offer a more Spring-time friendly dish to get you excited.

Daily Recipe: Tapas-Style Pepper-Steak "Parfaits"

Daily Recipe: Tapas-Style Pepper-Steak "Parfaits"

Denver is celebrating another round of restaurant week which means that a good number of high-end eateries are offering a special menu at the low price of $52.80 for a meal for two. Why that price? Denver is a mile above sea-level, which is 5,280 feet. Get it? Good. More than a few restaurants specialize in the hugely popular tapas-style menu. But if you can't make it out to anywhere for whatever reason, recreate some of the smaller dishes right in your very own kitchen. There, $52.80 saved.

Daily Recipe: Colombian Chicken Soup

Daily Recipe: Colombian Chicken Soup

It seems like more than half the people around here are sick with some seasonal ailment. Whether it's a slight cold, some nausea, a full-fledged case of the flu, or simple fatigue, this time of year is ripe for illness. And with the snow looming in tonight's forecast, what sounds better than a bowl of hot chicken soup? And who knows soup better than Emeril Legasse? Well, someone may, but do they say, "Bam!"? We didn't think so.

Daily Recipe: Crunchy Wasabi Salmon with Lime

Daily Recipe: Crunchy Wasabi Salmon with Lime

The reasoning behind tonight's recipe is two-fold. On the one hand, salmon fillets are on sale at the local King Soopers, so that, right there, is reason enough to have the uber-healthy fish for dinner. But given that we, too, have caught the Olympic fever, we thought of spicing up the dish with some flavors from Japan. So if you happen to be stopping at the store on the journey home this evening, pick up the ingredients for this dish. And watch your country bring home a gold or two.

Daily Recipe: Turkey Pot Pie in a Shell

Daily Recipe: Turkey Pot Pie in a Shell

Sometimes all it takes for a good dinner is turning the box over to find the suggested recipe on the back. While this Turkey Pot Pie differs slightly from the one a member of WSi told us about earlier, it comes courtesy from the box of Pepperidge Farms puff pastries. Give it a go. It's Pepperidge Farms, after all. We've got to think they have a pretty good handle on a decent recipe for as long as they've been around.

Daily Recipe: Crispy-Skinned Chicken a l'Orange

Daily Recipe: Crispy-Skinned Chicken a l'Orange

Fancy, no? Any dish that includes verbiage such as "a l'Orange" automatically takes it from ordinary to extraordinary. Don't let it scare you off from trying it out, though. Reading over the recipe, there's no blowtorch/flambe' involved. It is merely a classed up orange chicken. It's just way more fun to say and makes you sound extra classy when you say it this way.

Daily Recipe: Movies and Homemade Pretzels

Daily Recipe: Movies and Homemade Pretzels

It's supposed to snow all weekend. For some, that will no doubt put the kibash on plans, but for those of us that knew it was coming, our plans just get better. When all that's on the agenda is to watch movies while the snow falls outside, it's hard for anything to get ruined. And what goes better with a few indie dramas and romantic comedies than homemade pretzels? Few things, that's what.
