Daily Recipe: Soft-Shelled Crab Hand Roll

Daily Recipe: Soft-Shelled Crab Hand Roll

While sushi isn't exactly the easiest thing to prepare and some skilled artisans spend their entire life trying to master the art of the roll, it is among the tastiest of life's offerings. Craving it all day today has yielded the following Soft-Shelled Crab Hand Roll recipe. It sounds all well and good that we will prepare it ourselves, but if we can be honest, we're just going to get takeout. If you're feeling particularly skilled though, give it a try!

Daily Recipe: Cinco de mayo Beer & Tequila Carnitas

Daily Recipe: Cinco de mayo Beer & Tequila Carnitas

With Cinco de Mayo inching ever closer, the spicy tastes of the south are already teasing the palate. While the office might not be the place for a batch of Beer & Tequila Carnitas, your kitchen and a group of friends most certainly is. Have at it and let us know how they turn out!

Daily Recipe: Meatless Meatloaf

Daily Recipe: Meatless Meatloaf

The question is, if you're going to have meatloaf, why not just go all out and actually have meatloaf if you're not a vegetarian? We wish we could answer that, we really do. But for whatever reason, when Whole Foods offers their vegan meatless meatloaf in the deli case, we opt for it. It's just good. Now that we've tracked down the recipe, it appears we can have it anytime. We just hope we don't ruin it by having too much of a good thing.

Daily Recipe: Planning for Mother's Day - Soft Scrambled Eggs with Fresh Ricotta and Chives

Daily Recipe: Planning for Mother's Day - Soft Scrambled Eggs with Fresh Ricotta and Chives

Before you know it, Mother's Day will be here, and you don't want to be unprepared if you happen to not be the matriarch of the family. May 9th may be over two and a half weeks out, but that doesn't mean you can't start getting the day planned. Perhaps booking that skydiving adventure now is a better idea than risking the plane filling up and at the last minute realize you have nothing to give mom. Sky diving a little too extreme? Well, how about breakfast in bed? It's like the same thing, just, without a parachute.

Daily Recipe: Pizza Minis

Daily Recipe: Pizza Minis

Monday is hardly the night to try some adventurous recipe. We found this amazing looking spinach and goat cheese tartlet dish but reconsidered when we saw the preparation instructions. Best to leave the more time-consuming dishes for those nights when you don't just want to go home and crash.

Daily Recipe: Grilled Pineapple with Coconut Black Sticky Rice

Daily Recipe: Grilled Pineapple with Coconut Black Sticky Rice

While Tuesdays are reserved for tacos, last night was a night at the ball park with hot dogs and peanuts, tonight we're excited to continue a new practice of chowing down on some delicious Thai food. We like to think we always have time to make said delicacies, but most times we just opt for take out and a night of must see TV. There is a little place down the street that has the best grilled pineapple for dessert. That said, it'd be nice to know how to make our own so we can have it more frequently.

Daily Recipe: BLT Dip

Daily Recipe: BLT Dip

If you were as lucky as a few of us around the WSi headquarters, you'll be at Coors Field tonight rooting the Rockies to hopefully a win over the Mets from New York. If not, no worries. There are plenty of games. In the meantime, have a few friends over to watch, grill up some brats and chow down! Maybe add a plate of BLT dip to the mix, too. You know, it's up to you.

Daily Recipe: French Onion Soup

Daily Recipe: French Onion Soup

The thing about a good French Onion Soup is that it looks like it took the better part of two hours hour to prepare. You have that hot, steamy goodness under a piece of quickly-softening bread and a baked-on blend of cheese covering the entire top of the bowl. While some restaurants want you to believe it does actually take all that time, it really doesn't have to. Tonight, spoil yourself with a bowl, and do so in a fraction of the time you originally thought.

Daily Recipe: Ham Club Sandwich Sliders

Daily Recipe: Ham Club Sandwich Sliders

Easter Sunday has come and gone, but that in no way means the food has. Like many families, you're probably in need of a second fridge for all the leftovers. Personally, we had three different chicken plates at dinner, but we know the lot of you maybe had the traditional ham. And like the reusing of the Easter eggs, that ham can be put to good use too.

Daily Recipe: More eggs? Scramble them with Canadian Bacon

Daily Recipe: More eggs? Scramble them with Canadian Bacon

We understand: Deviled eggs aren't everyone's cup of tea. Maybe it's the "devil" connotation on Easter Sunday that gets you. Maybe you just plain don't like the snack. That doesn't mean you still can't put dyed eggs to good use. You have to eat a delicious and hearty breakfast after the hunt, no? Why not take those eggs, scramble them, add some Canadian bacon, and set it all atop a few pieces of multigrain toast? Bam! Easy.

Daily Recipe: Making Use of Easter Eggs

The thrill of the hunt is sometimes more exciting than the actual end result. In this case, the act of searching for Easter eggs this Sunday is much more fun than the thought of ending up with a basket full of warm hard-boiled eggs. Fear not. Once that hunt ends, grab them from the bed of plastic grass and whip up a batch of deviled eggs. Nothing goes to waste that way, and you end up with a delicious snack.

Daily Recipe: Spicy Potato Tacos for Taco Tuesday

Daily Recipe: Spicy Potato Tacos for Taco Tuesday

At least around these parts, Taco Tuesday has become somewhat of a tradition among a close group of friends. Every Tuesday, a few of us gather for witty banter, a few libations, perhaps the latest episode of Lost, and, most importantly tacos. It's a nice social dish, especially when guests are allowed to assemble their own. Call a friend or 5 tonight, put a few Corona's on ice, chops some onions, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, and whatever else you'd like to stuff in a shell, and enjoy!

Daily Recipe: Pad Thai

Daily Recipe: Pad Thai

There's not much better than take out food. Delivery is good too, but at least when you go pick up something, you feel like you at least earned it a little. There's a Thai place near us that has the best take out food, and we've deemed this Monday night an appropriate night to go grab some. However, since you're most-likely not near the same place, we suggest you make some of your own Pad Thai and join us in deliciousness.

Daily Recipe: Salmon Hand Roll

Daily Recipe: Salmon Hand Roll

Whole Foods, or at least the location on Colorado Blvd., is having a blowout sale on their fresh salmon. It was upwards of $13/lbs, but right now you can grab some of the delicious fish for a cool $8.99/lbs. If that's not a deal, at Whole Foods or anywhere else, we'd sure like to know what you consider a "deal." While you're at the market, pick up some nori, fresh mint leaves, sushi rice, and asparagus for tonight's hand rolls.

Daily Recipe: Cold night, Hot lasagna

Daily Recipe: Cold night, Hot lasagna

The high tonight in the Mile High City is supposed to be a balmy 20 degrees. It has been snowing all day, the roads are treacherous, the visibility is low, and doing anything other than having the ultimate movie night tonight sounds downright impossible. Cook up a meaty lasagna, throw on your Redbox rental (we suggest the classic 80s flick, "Valley Girl"), and stay warm indoors while the sky opens outside.

Daily Recipe: Egg White Omelets with Spinach and Cheese

Daily Recipe: Egg White Omelets with Spinach and Cheese

We're done with Irish recipes until this time next year, we promise. Corned beef shall not grace the pages of the WSi blog for a good long while. It's been some time since we've posted a breakfast so we're getting back on that this evening. Dinner's in your hands, but we've got tomorrow's meal all planned out. If you don't have time to make an omelet during the week, Saturday is only a day away.

Daily Recipe: Corned Beef and Cabbage Rolls

Daily Recipe: Corned Beef and Cabbage Rolls

While Irish fare isn't looked to as the "healthiest" of cuisine, that doesn't mean it can't be augmented to be just that. Most of us are at least somewhat conscious of our health, unless you're Donna Simpson (look it up), but that doesn't mean you have to skirt the traditional dishes of St. Paddy's altogether. A simple tweak to Corned Beef and Cabbage can make the dish healthy without sacrificing tradition or taste.

Daily Recipe: Take-to-School (or work) Taco Bar

Daily Recipe: Take-to-School (or work) Taco Bar

Sometimes, nothing beats the taste of good, hearty homemade sandwich for lunch. And, especially in this economy, saving a few bucks where ever you can, is ideal. However, after awhile, that sandwich can become a bit mundane. If you feel like adding a little variety to life, turn that everyday hoagie into a delicious and portable taco bar.

Daily Recipe: Chicken Gyros with Cucumber Salsa and Tzatziki

Daily Recipe: Chicken Gyros with Cucumber Salsa and Tzatziki

We haven't delved too deep into the world of the Greek foods here at WSi. For whatever reason, the delicacies haven't come up as often as, say, Thai food, Mexican dishes, and American classics. To remedy this, try a chicken gyro tonight. If you're scared to try something new, just think of it as a rolled sandwich with a light ranch sauce made from cucumber. Easy as that...

Daily Recipe: Chicken and Black Bean Tostadas

Daily Recipe: Chicken and Black Bean Tostadas

Sometimes there needs to be no rhyme or reason behind what to have for dinner. Sitting at the desk today, something about tostadas just seemed to hit us just right. A simple search of one of our favorite foodie sites yielded one heck of a recipe. It's like they read our minds. Creepy.
